U4GM - Where to Find the Best Elden Ring Rune Spots
If you're looking to level up fast or acquire powerful gear in Elden Ring, farming runes efficiently is essential. Elden Ring runes serve as the main currency for leveling up, upgrading equipment, and purchasing important items. To help you make the most of your time, here’s a guide to some of the best rune farming locations across the Lands Between.
Mohgwyn Palace – The Absolute Best Rune Farm
Arguably the most well-known spot, Mohgwyn Palace is considered by many players as the top location for farming Elden Ring runes. You can access it relatively early if you follow Varre’s questline. Once inside, head to the area with the Albinaurics near the blood marsh. With an area-of-effect spell or weapon skill, you can clear dozens of enemies in seconds, easily earning hundreds of thousands of runes per hour.
Additionally, there's a bird enemy across the canyon that can be baited into falling off the ledge by shooting it with a bow. This trick alone gives you over 11,000 runes per kill, with no risk.
Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow – Easy Early-Game Farming
For players earlier in the game, Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow in Caelid offers a great rune farming method. The area is home to a sleeping giant dragon named Greyoll, surrounded by smaller dragons. If you use a bleed weapon and focus on Greyoll, you can kill it without much resistance. Defeating Greyoll rewards you with about 50,000 runes, and even more if you have a Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot active.
Lenne’s Rise – High Risk, High Reward
Another strong option is found at Lenne’s Rise in northeast Caelid. Use the Spiritspring to jump to the rise and defeat the ball enemies that spawn nearby. These balls award a surprising amount of Elden Ring runes when defeated, and they’re not too difficult to handle if you’ve leveled up a bit.
Windmill Village – Mid-Game Opportunity
Dominula, Windmill Village, located in the Altus Plateau, is filled with dancing enemies that are surprisingly generous with rune drops. The enemies here are relatively weak, making it an easy and efficient farming spot. Clearing the whole village nets a decent amount of runes and can be repeated quickly.
Endgame Farming – Haligtree and Farum Azula
Once you’re in the late game, areas like Miquella’s Haligtree and Crumbling Farum Azula become excellent for rune farming. The enemies are tough but reward massive amounts of Elden Ring runes. Focus on humanoid enemies, knights, or specific repeatable groups that respawn near Sites of Grace.
Bonus Tip – Boosting Rune Gains
No matter where you farm, consider equipping the Gold Scarab talisman, which boosts rune acquisition significantly. Also, use consumables like Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot before clearing groups of enemies for an extra rune bonus.
Farming Elden Ring runes doesn't have to feel like a chore. With the right location and strategy, you can level up quickly and focus more on exploring, battling bosses, or creating the ultimate build. Whether you're early in the game or exploring the endgame, these rune spots will help you stay ahead in the Lands Between.
